Family Support & Connections (FS&C) is a preventive program designed to help families meet the challenges of life. FS&C staff assists families in developing an individual plan to identify the strengths and needs of a family and work together to find solutions.
We assist families with: skill building, planning, budgeting, parent education, problem solving skills, family mentoring, resource information, job skills and job leads, community family activities, help with paperwork, low-income housing information, training opportunities, college information, goal planning, communication skills, scheduling, organizational skills, personal hygiene, homemaking skills, and understanding the consequences of the choices we make. We also help with emergency needs such as diapers, baby supplies, clothing, school supplies, transportation, etc.
The Family Mentoring program matches a trained volunteer family mentor with a family. Mentors serve as a positive role model in developing a relationship with the family and offer support that fits the family’s needs. This may include budgeting, shopping, nutrition, parenting, emotional support, cooking skills, goal setting or just listening.
